From Minnesota to Pennsylvania, wild parsnip is on the obnoxious noxious weed list.

Wild parsnip is highly invasive and if ignored can spread rapidly, developing into large monocultures that replace native animal and plant habitat.

Wild Parsnip

This is the month to deal with this nasty “bite back” invasive.

Wild Parsnip (Pastinaca sativa).  This invasive plant’s poisonous sap, when combined with sunlight, creates a chemical reaction called phytophotodermatitis and is so corrosive that it can cause second degree burns.  And sweat makes it absorb quicker!

Not much compares to Wild Parsnip and Hogweed in terms of, literally, physical pain to gardeners but there are many other Noxious/OBnoxious weeds that wreak havoc on our ecosystems.
