2020 will go down in history. Turbulence of many types. But still, humans are resilient, we look at ways to celebrate holidays differently this year.
Milestone birthdays, graduations, Thanksgiving this week and Christmas and other religious holidays on the horizon.
On today’s Garden Bite, I wanted to take a moment to share some lovely plants. Plants that are coming in 2021. Something to look forward to. Proven Winners is offering a couple of really interesting colocasia, aka Elephant Ears. I’m a coffee drinker and ‘Coffee Cups’ looks like you could drink a cup from one of it’s leaves!
‘Coffee Cups’ cupped leaves fill with water, tip over and the go back upright!
‘Heart of the Jungle’s leaves are huge and YUP, heartshaped, this one prefers more sun than Coffee Cups.
Gorgeous tropical feel on your northern porch. Plant them in a large container alone or add some flowering annuals that match their needs. They’re easy to grow.
A couple of begonias coming to a nursery near you next year are the Funky series, ‘Red’ and Nonstop ‘Fire’, for this link follow down to see all the plants. This series is the result of a cross between a Bolivian begonia and a tuberous begonia. Dainty, wing-shaped foliage is smothered with big, dangling blooms all season long.
It’s terrific as a potted plant! Use it to add a splash of color to patios, porches, and mixed container plantings like possibly those new elephant ears! There are many in this series but these colors are outstanding. There’s not a ton of information on these two just yet!
And take a look at the new ‘Wee Bit Giddy’ bigleaf hydrangea!
